Multiples Awareness Week 2019

24th of February to the 3rd of March 2019
'Share the Journey'

The journey of carrying, delivering and raising two or more babies at once is no easy feat and a task best shared with a trusted and supportive network. KapiMana Multiples helps families build these essential connections by linking them with community, information and support.

The theme for Multiples Awareness Week 2019 is 'Share the Journey'

Many parents of multiples feel isolated and overwhelmed due to their unique situation. Mental health issues occur at a much higher rate in parents of multiples. A strong sense of belonging is essential for good mental health and wellbeing. KapiMana Multiples fosters these connections by linking families to a community of local multiple birth families.

Those who actively ‘share the journey’ with their peers often develop strong bonds and lifelong friendships through the shared experience of parenting multiples and the many unique joys and challenges this brings.

By getting involved in club activities such as clothing grabs and playgroups, parents will have the opportunity to share their stories, knowledge and skills as well as offering words of reassurance and encouragement that build confidence and a sense of belonging.

At KapiMana Multiples we know that parenting multiples is a journey best shared.

With this in mind, we would love for you to join us for a family picnic at Marine Gardens Raumati. Bring a picnic blanket, a packed lunch and share your journey with us.

Sunday 3rd March, 1pm-3pm.

We will have a face painter from Daizy Designs arrive at 2pm (free to members).

Marine Gardens has a playground and splash pad for kids to play on. Trains also run from 1pm at a cost of $1.50 a ride. Under 3 are free.

The club holds a weekly playgroup. It currently runs on a Tuesday at the Pukerua Bay Tennis Club, Rawhiti Road, from 9.30-11.30 am (term time). It's a great venue with indoor and outdoor activities so come along and share a morning with fellow KMM members. Remember a key role of the playgroup is to provide support to you the parents and caregivers. Tea, coffee and biscuits are supplied for adults, but please bring a lunchbox and drink bottle for your children. FREE to club members, non-members $2.00 per family.

The club holds several clothing grabs/dessert nights per year. All club members can come along and "grab" as much clothing as you wish, while enjoying yummy dessert and catching up with other members. You do not have to supply clothing, but surplus items or clothes your children have grown out of, can be swapped for the next size up. We have sizes ranging from newborn to 3 years. See the latest newsletter for location details and dates. Even if you don't need any clothing, feel free to come along for the dessert and a chat. We ask that you bring along a small plate of dessert to share.

Our committee meetings are open to all club members. Meetings are held at 7.30pm on the 2nd Monday in the month, at a committee member's home.
Contact our Secretary for more information if you wish to come along.
