Fortnightly Playgroup/Club Morning Teas

Wednesdays, 10 am - 12 noon, Plimmerton Pavilion, Main Hall, Sunset Parade, Plimmerton. This is a chance to socialise with other parents of multiples in a relaxed, supportive environment. Plenty of hands to help you with your baby/toddler. Experienced parents of multiples to help answer all your questions about raising multiples. Morning tea provided for parents and children, with toys for big and small. Access to our club library books. Contact our Playgroup Coordinator to find out the date of the next event or look in your latest club newsletter.




Monthly Committee Meetings

All Committee Meetings are usually held at 7.30 pm on the 2nd Monday in the month, at a committee member's home. Addresses can be found in the club newsletter or contact our Secretary for more information.

Breastfeeding Info Nights

These information evenings will be held by Lorraine Taylor in conjunction with members from the Wellington Club. Dates will be organised on a needs basis. Educational Courses

The Post and Ante-Natal Distress Support Group (Wellington) Inc runs regular 8-week support/education courses in Johnsonville to help you cope with looking after newborns, and provide self-confidence. Creche provided.

All most welcome, no matter where you live. $60 or what you can afford.

Out and About

Preschool Storytime: Story time sessions ideal for children 2 years onwards is half an hour of stories, songs, rhymes followed by simple craft activities. Porirua Library: Wednesday and Friday at 10.15 am. Whitby Library: Friday at 10.30am. Tawa Library: Monday at 10.30am. Cost FREE!

Plimmerton Playgroup. Held at Plimmerton Pavilion, Sunset Parade, Plimmerton. Friday 9.30-11.30 am. Cost $2 per child.

Kindy Gym, Te Rauparaha Arena, 17 Parumoana Street. Kindy Gym suits any pre-schooler. The class generally consists of 30 minutes of structured activity including dance, movement and games followed by 30 minutes of free time on the gymnastic equipment specifically set up for this age group. Check the Preschool Programmes page for full details of the various programmes available. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9.30-10.30am. Monday 1.30-2.30pm or Friday 11-12pm. $4.50 per child or $35 for a 10 trip.

Whitby Toy Library: Open Wednesday 9.15-11.30 am and Saturday mornings 9 am - noon. Located in the Toy Library building next to the Whitby Scout Den, Discovery Drive. Various membership arrangements available. Website: www.wtl.org.nz

Tawa Swimming Pool, Davies Street, Tawa: The pool is closed for maintenance until mid April 2012. There is a paddling pool there so you can safely take both of your children for a dip in the water, without having to get changed into togs yourself. Friday Toddlers morning with Toys, bubbles and face painting from 10 - 12pm. Cost for pool entry is Under 5 year old $1.20, and $1 for parent spectator.

Baby Rock and Rhyme at Tawa Library. A free, fun programme for babies under two years and their parents/caregivers. Fridays during term time from 9.30 am - 10 am. Cost FREE!

Buggy Fitness, City Fitness Gym, 1 Walton Leigh Avenue, Porirua. Specifically designed low impact aerobics for mums. You can take your children with you in their buggy which is included in the fitness programme. Tuesday at 10:15am. Cost $4 for members or non-members.

St Christopher's Anglican Church (Pop in and Play Group), Main Road, Tawa. For fabulous food and a great place to meet up with friends, come to the Generations Cafe on Friday mornings during term time. Play area for pre-school children. A warm welcome guaranteed! Fridays 9.30 - 11.30am.

Titahi Bay Plunket Playgroup: Gospel Chapel, 25 Mana Avenue, Titahi Bay, Wednesday, 9.30-11.30 am. Cost $1.00 per child.

Whitby Lakeside Playground. A fully fenced playground to keep your kids safe while burning off their excess energy. Take a picnic and park at the gate.

Paremata Plunket Playgroup: Anchor Church, 1 Joseph Banks Drive, Whitby. Monday 9.15-11.15am. $5.00 per family, concession cards are available at a discounted price.. It's a great time to get out while your children have a play. You can get involved and play with your child, or simply just enjoy your child playing with all the equipment. There is so much for them to do. There's a mothers and babies area where mums with babies can sit on a large mat area and interact with their babies amongst a host of toys especially for babies. There are other areas set up for puzzles, reading, art activities, playdough, large play equipment such as a slide and climbing toy, balls, social play area with a workbench and a kitchenette. There are trucks to play with, puzzles to put together, dolls to mother and push around in prams. The children have a ball!!!

Mums can chat to other mums, or simply sit and watch the children play. You can get actively involved and kick a ball around with the children, or just relax. It is all safe and fenced in so no-one can escape. The hall is full of adults who will help others. And the greatest thing of all is the small cost. The playing stops at 11 am when there is a half hour for singing and music making. There are no obligations, you don't have to book or come a certain number of times. You can arrive and leave as you please. It really is a great opportunity to get out. Go on, give it a try, it really is a great way to get out and meet others too!

Mana Parent Centre Movement and Music: Introduce your child to action songs and musical instruments. Pember House, Ground Floor, Hagley Street, Porirua (opposite Police Station). Tuesday 9.30 - 10 am Music class for moving children. 10 am-10.30 am Morning tea supplied. 10.30-11 am Music class for non-moving children. Cost $5 for non-members per family.

Mainly Music. Half an hour of singing and then a supplied morning tea for adults and children. North Porirua Baptist Church, Discovery Drive, Whitby: Tuesday 9.30-10.30 am or 10-11 am, or Thursday 9.30-10.30 am. Anchor Church, 1 Joseph Banks Drive, Whitby: Wednesday 9.30-10.30 am.
